Also known as Indian Frankincense, Boswellia Serrata is a herb with a long history of use in Ayurveda, India’s ancient medicine system. Boswellia is highly effective for controlling inflammation, reducing pain, and supporting joint and immune health.

Boswellia functions in a similar way to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that are generally used in inflammatory conditions. However, it does not seem to contribute to articular damage, and has been shown to decrease the prevalence of enzymes in the synovial fluid that have been implicated in the degradation of cartilage in the joints.

In addition to osteoarthritic inflammation, studies have found that Boswellia may also help relieve the symptoms of ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease.
